Westtown Church is seeking nominations for New Elders and Deacons

Nominations for new Elders and Deacons of Westtown Church will be received between Sunday, March 16th, and Sunday, April 13th, 2025. If you have not yet submitted your nominations for these important positions, please do so as soon as possible.

Who are Elders & Deacons?

Elders are men called and equipped by the Lord to shepherd and govern our church. An elder candidate must meet the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, and be a male member of Westtown Church in good standing.

  • Above reproach
  • The husband of one wife
  • Sober-minded
  • Self-controlled
  • Respectable
  • Hospitable
  • Able to teach
  • Not a drunkard
  • Not violent but gentle
  • Not quarrelsome
  • Not a lover of money or greedy for gain
  • Must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive
  • Must not be a recent convert
  • Must be well thought of by outsiders

Deacons are men called and equipped by the Lord to serve and care for the physical needs of our people and property. A deacon candidate must meet the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, and be a male member of Westtown Church in good standing.

  • Dignified
  • Not double-tongued
  • Not addicted to much wine
  • Not greedy for dishonest gain
  • Must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience
  • Their wives must be dignified, not slanderers, sober-minded, faithful in all things
  • The husband of one wife
  • Managing their children and their own households well

Member Questionnaire

The Session of Westtown Church has created a questionnaire to help you assess your potential nomination of a man for the Office of Elder or Deacon. We hope this will be helpful as you prayerfully consider your nomination and recognize that none of us are perfect in our walk but should ascribe/aspire to the standards set out in Scripture.

It is a great privilege of church membership to nominate and later elect officers of the church

We believe one of the main ways God leads, feeds, and cares for his people is through leaders in the church.

Please prayerfully consider who you might nominate. Submit their names online here, or with the printed copy of the nomination form that is available in the lobby of Westtown Church.
